A regular meeting was held in the Agro-food sector
On 19.11.2022 a regular meeting of the Business Council in the Agri-food sector was held in Blagoevgrad. There were seven present representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The hall for holding the meeting was secured technically, being equipped - multimedia, portable computer, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Guide of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 program . In addition, disinfectants were provided, as well as water, coffee and tea to ensure the event's coffee break. The discussion of the current BS in the Agri-food sector developed in the direction of newly published studies, according to which a consistent decline in the productivity of farms is observed and therefore an increase in food imports from third countries to meet the nutritional needs of Bulgarian consumers. In this sense, the decrease in the productivity of the Bulgarian market would necessarily lead to an increase in prices and a shortage of certain products on the market. In this case, the representatives of the sector expressed their concerns regarding the maintenance of the profitability of their holdings, which in turn would cause serious problems at the level of the production structure, but also of social stability. In this case, the representatives of the sector hope that the responsible institutions will take measures to solve the problems in this area, including and financial assistance for the modernization of enterprises (for example, on projects with national and/or European funding).
